NEW MUSIC FROM IRELAND - SUNDAY MARCH 17TH CHAPTER ARTS CARDIFF
A Trinity of Irish Musicians and Composers present an alternative St Patrick’s Day celebration at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff. Internationally esteemed Virtuoso Guitarist Benjamin Dwyer, Voice and electronics artist Jenn Kirby and Flautist Emma Coulthard present an exciting collection of Contemporary Irish Music that reflects the extraordinary diversity and richness of output from Wales’s Celtic Cousins. From a new incantation for St Patrick to the shocking witnessing of the ancient Sheela-na-gig, exploring new techniques and sounds, this music, rarely heard in the UK, will challenge definitions and certainly present a fresh perspective .
Music by: John Buckley, Frank Corcoran, Benjamin Dwyer, Jenn Kirby John McLachlan , Fergus Johnston.
Tickets £10 (£7 conc) from chapter.org
Very much looking forward to my St Patrick's Day Performance, and delighted to be joined by two wonderful artists : Guitarist and Composer Benjamin Dwyer, and Electronic artist and Composer Jenn Kirby. Several World premiers on the programme, in particular the opening 'One minute for St Patrick' composed specially for this concert by Frank Corcoran, and 'HAG!' by Benjamin Dwyer, for amplified flute with bowed guitar. Premier also of John Mclachlan - Filament 1 for solo flute. Grateful for the support of CMC Ireland and the wonderful Mark Johnson mojofoto , for the artwork..
